Many Jewish Federations and Jewish organizations offer scholarships and funding for Israel programs for young adults from their communities.

  • The Amy Adine Schulman Scholarship Fund- The grant requires a commitment to educate others through lecture, program or other activities upon returning to your home or school community. You must be willing and able to do this so others will have the opportunity to learn about and to be inspired to do similar work. www.amyadinaschulmanfund.org
  • Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program - The Gilman Scholarship Program provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two- or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. www.iie.org/Gilman

  • Boren Scholarship - Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad who will contribute to U.S. national security, broadly defined. www.borenawards.org

  • Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund – The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to university students who are part of the progressive movement on campus or the community, actively working for peace and justice. www.davisputter.org.

  • DiversityAbroad.com Study Abroad Scholarship - $1,000 scholarships for spring 2010, summer 2010 and fall 2010 study abroad available for student studying at Hebrew University or through Living Routes. http://www.diversityabroad.com/scholarships/summer-spring-fall

  • The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies - The Israel Scholarship Committee of the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies administers a limited amount of financial assistance for high school and college students to travel and study in Israel. http://www.jewishphilanthropies.org/israel_scholarships.html

  • Fulbright Scholarship – The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. www.iie.org/Fulbright

  • Haas/Koshland Memorial Award - Provides up to $20,000 to support a year of study and personal development in Israel. The award is open to college students, from sophomore year through graduate school, who are from, or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area. http://www.sfjcf.org/endowment/awards/haaskoshland/

  • Helyn B. Reich Memorial Scholarship Fund - Reich scholarships are awarded each year to a limited number of American students who choose to study at one of several designated Israeli universities or attend post-college long-term programs. http://www.azm.org/hbr_about.shtml

  • Jeff Seidel's Scholarship to Israel - $500 scholarships towards airfare to come to study in Israel on affiliated programs for Birthright and Hillel alumni. www.jeffseidel.com

  • The Jewish Federations of North America – Local Jewish Federations offer scholarships and grants for community members going to Israel. www.JewishFederations.org

  • Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture - This fund is for independent scholarly, literary, or art projects done in Israel. Please inquire regarding the deadline. www.mfjc.org

  • Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship – The Ambassadorial Scholarships look to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. The program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduates and graduate students and professionals pursuing vocational studies. www.rotary.org

  • Schusterman Scholarship - Up to seven scholarships will be awarded to students studying in the University of California EAP program in Israel. Students from all UC campuses will be competing for these scholarships. Awards will be up to $2,000 for semester participants and up to $5,000 for year participants. The deadline for the complete Schusterman Scholarship application packet is February 1, 2010. Students will be informed of their awards by March 15, 2010. www.schusterman.org

  • The Wisam Khamees Scholarship for Arabs and Jews – The Wisam Khamees Scholarship Fund for Arabs and Jews is dedicated to supporting Israelis in their pursuit of higher education, and is committed to promoting academic advancement as well as equality and coexistence i"n Israel. www.iataskforce.org

  • Your Local Synagogue – Synagogues often set aside funds for young adults and/or travel to Israel. For a list of synagogues in your area, visit www.JewishFederations.org.
